Task description:Today I finished my task!!It was all about our immersion assembly it was so exciting. We have a new them and it is Beyond the sky. This term we are all learning about what’s beyond the sky like Space and the planets. If you want to see my Team 4 movie here!!!
Check out my story below
This morning, on the first day of school, we had an immersion assembly in the school hall with all the staff and students. The purpose of the immersion assembly is to introduce our new term of learning!
When we got to the assembly, you could see the excitement on everyone’s faces. The whole hall was buzzing with energy. We sat down in our lines and waited for Mr. Burt to begin.
“Hello everyone,” Mr. Burt said.
“Kia ora, Mr. Burt!” everyone replied.
“Now it’s time for the SMT — the Senior Management Team!” he announced.
The SMT performed an awesome, incredible video all about astronauts. In the video, Mr. Burt was wearing scuba gear and moving like an astronaut floating in space! Then, Ms. Nua appeared in an astronaut costume, moving very slowly like she was in zero gravity. After that, Mr. Jacobsen showed up on the moon — also in a full astronaut suit!
Next was Team 1. They created a fun movie featuring Miss Shirley, Miss Lal, and Ms. Hockley. In the movie, Miss Shirley had gone to New York City for the holidays. While she was there, she called Miss Hockley and Miss Lal — but it was 3 a.m. in New Zealand! In New York, it was 11 a.m. Why was it so early here and late morning over there? It’s because New Zealand and New York are in different time zones!
Then it was time for Team 2, and they showed another awesome movie. Their movie was all about a magic bus adventure through space! Miss Teleso, Miss Wilson, and Ms. Squires rode the bus around the solar system. They saw Saturn, Mars, Mercury, the Sun, and the Moon. It was so fun and really interesting to watch.
Next, Team 3 performed a creative rap. It had a trap-style beat, and they rapped about the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth. Ms. Moala was the Moon, Ms. Scanlan was the Sun, and Mrs. Walker was the Earth. It was fun, educational, and had a great rhythm!
“Team Four’s turn now!” said Mr. Burt.
Team 4 presented a movie all about the planets. They were in a rocket, and every time they passed a planet, they shared a fun fact about it. They nearly went around the whole solar system! The facts were so cool, and it was really exciting to watch.
“NOW IT’S TIME FOR TEAM 5!!!” Mr. Burt announced loudly.
I was so excited! Team 5 performed a song based on “Love” — but as an instrumental version. They changed the lyrics to be all about Mars, the Sun, Uranus, the Moon, Neptune, and other planets. My favorite line was:
“Sunnnnnnnn! We never knew you were so gassy, but you know that we are classy!”
It was hilarious and catchy! Team 5 was made up of Mr. Wiseman, Mr. Moran, Ms. Iloa, Whea Saf, Ms. Tele’a, and Ms. Tipene. It was the best performance ever!
My favorite performance was Team 5’s because it made my whole day — and it was only the first day of Term 2!
